Rooted in the seasonal rhythms of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Solace: Poems from the Northwoods is an extended love letter to the land and a restless meditation on interpersonal & interspecies relationships. Ecology and lyricism collide in these poems of uncertain times and unexpected transformations, where the deep woods and an even deeper silence mark the trail leading back to what shines.

Praise for Solace

“I have rarely read a book that so convincingly enacts the fact that the so-called middle of nowhere is somewhere… Solace: Poems from the Northwoods makes a case for tenderness, for being prey to beauty, even if it means being fed to the fire.” – Diane Seuss, author of frank: sonnets and Modern Poetry

“These poems are opened and animated by the stillness between this life and its aftermath, unafraid to listen generously.” – Topaz Winters, author of Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing
