We’ve covered a ton of ground in June — we can’t wait to share everything with you!

Outreach Events

We have had a RECORD number of exciting outreach events  since the end of May! First, we ran games for our new partners at Mackinac Connect — Monumental Consequence and Making History were a hit! Next, our wonderful retail partners at Modern Explorers Guild hosted a Break Our Games night! Then, Tabletop Underground invited us to one of their game nights at Tank Space in Traverse City. Since then, we have also hosted a game design night at the Mackinac Island Public Library and are looking forward to more events!

    Coming up, we have:

    • Share a Game night at the Mackinac Island Public Library, July 7, 6:30 – 8:30
    • Playtesting The Blue Way at Gather and Game in Buffalo (NY) on July 9 from 6-9PM
    • Break Our Games night at Modern Explorers Guild, July 10, 5-7PM
    • Game Night at the Mackinac Island Public Library, July 14, 6:30 – 8:30

Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information on these events coming soon! We can’t wait to play/design/break games with you!

    The Blue Way Updates

Buckle up, because we have a LOT of news on this front! First of all, we successfully hit our base level campaign goal in a matter of days! Thank you so much to everyone who has lent their support to making the enhanced version of The Blue Way a reality!

We are still forging ahead — earlier this week, we hit our first stretch goal! That means that now, in addition to the core game, each box of The Blue Way will come with a brand-new character.

Our next stretch goal will add a new game — The New Way by Allen White which places players into an engineering ethics dilemma — and a new additional set of cards by Jonathan Truitt to expand the game’s exploration of colonialism with a map-coloring mechanic. Visit our campaign page for more details!

(P.S. All of these cool add-ons are already part of The Blue Way Curriculum Guide as print and play materials!)

More Cool Things for The Blue Way

This time around, we have produced a full suite of creator Q&As for The Blue Way core game and The Blue Way Curriculum Guide! Here are the quick links:

Look for a designer Q&A with Allen White (The New Waycoming soon!

We are also proud to showcase two alumni projects we referenced in our last newsletter:

    • Check out Samantha Krayniak’s The Blue Way: A Digital Exhibit and learn more about the relationship between museum exhibit design and colonialism.
    • Watch the time-lapse video to see how Tak Moran created a premade map for The Blue Way (included as a digital download with the curriculum guide for optional easy setup) and see the finished product.

One last thing: for the first time, we are offering CMich Press game-themed t-shirts as an add-on for a crowdfunding campaign! On The Blue Way’s page, you can add a shirt with art from The Blue Way — OR The Mountain Witch OR Dog Eat Dog — and display your favorite game at your next game night or convention!

(For our hardcore CMU fans: we also have one-of-a-kind Central Michigan University card sleeves!)

Those are the highlights — for now! As always, feel free to message us with questions or thoughts. Have a wonderful rest of your month!
